Glitter Diaries: An Epic Weekend..

Before I start the post I'd like to say... My oh my it's been a while.  I haven't posted a whole lot this month, and I haven't made a post for two weeks. I have gotten a little busy, and a bit lazy over the last two weeks. Sorry about that everyone. :( I am back now, and I will be back on my two or more posts a week schedule soon. You can also check out my tumblr and my twitter for more constant updates. Okay Now on to my epic weekend! 

OH MY GOSH! This past weekend has been AMAZING! Just absolutely everything was perfect! I got to talk to my dad who I haven't seen in months, I went to prom, has a great time at post prom, found my 5 year old self, and I got an iPhone 5! This has probably been the best weekend I've had in a long time, if not ever! This may also be the first time I've ever had two exciting days in a row, LOL.

I woke up a little earlier then I would on a normal Saturday to start getting myself ready. I did everything myself; hair, nails, and make-up. I would say everything turned out nicely, although I did get glitter everywhere when I did my nails. As I was finishing up, about two hours before prom, out of the blue, my dad comes over to my house. It was nice to get back in touch with my dad after not talking to him since August. There were a few reasons why he'd been away, one being no real way to communicate because I didn't have a phone. Yes, I was one of the few people without a phone for several long months. It's harder then it sounds, LOL! But that leads us to the next exciting part, my dad decided to get me an iPhone 5. I absolutely love it! He originally planned on me to get it Saturday,  but we decided to go Sunday instead because there wouldn't have been enough time between getting to the Sprint store, and getting back here to get to prom. 

With having a new phone, I'll be able to update on tumblr and twitter more often. I'll also soon be joining a few other social networking sites. 

After setting up a time for my dad to come pick me up Sunday, he took off so I could finish getting dressed for prom. Before anyone asks... no I didn't have a date. I just danced with a few friends and had a great time, it was am amazing night. We first arrived at the high school for promenade, and the school, and everyone there, looked absolutely fantastic. I loved walking on a little red carpet to get inside, LOL! After that we took off for our prom venue. We ate dinner, and oh my gosh I ate so much yummy food between prom and post-prom, then after dinner came the dance. The music wasn't exactly  my favorite, but I wasn't expecting them to play Blood On The Dance Floor or Black Veil Brides, LOL! I still had fun and danced my ba-donkey-donk off. My legs are still really sore, hahaha. You really don't need a date to have at prom, just go with some friends and have fun. :)

After prom came post-prom, and let's be honest. While I had a great time at prom, I think I had more fun at post prom, LOL. We went to Acres Of Fun, and they have a pretty good amount of things to do. They have arcade games, laser tag, go carts, roller skating, and.. THE BALL PITS! I am a 5 year old stuck in a 19 year old body, so I just had to play on the playground and dive into the ball pit. I think the ball pit may have even been my favorite part of the night. I felt like I was 5 years old again! I didn't spend the whole night in the ball pit (but a lot of it, LOL!). I also played a few games, and ate a lot of yummy food. I  loved how they had all that good food for free, for us to grab at will. There were also prizes for us to win in a raffle. I didn't want to go back home!

Because I'm so easily amused, by everything, and anything. I even kinda enjoyed the bus ride. And as we were getting on the bus to leave for post-prom, ALL of the lights around us went out for a few seconds, it was a little freaky, LOL! One minute I was talking to the people around me, then we look outside and it's pitch black out. All of the lights in the parking lot, the lights of the old high school, and the lights of the new  high school went out. Just a random part of my night, LOL. 

With everything, I had a great time. The weather was amazing on Saturday, and although it rained on Sunday as I was getting my iPhone, it was still a great day. This school year is coming to an end really quickly. All that's left is the choir trip to Cedar Point, and graduation then I'm done with high school forever. This has been such a great year, and the last month of school it going to go by fast now. :) 

Get Outside And Enjoy The Nice Day!

While I do enjoy spending time outside on a nice day, I am guilty of spending a nice day cooped up in my room. It could be 70 degrees and sunny, and I'll be sitting behind my computer, staying inside as if it's 35 degrees with an icey rain. And what excuse do I have to stay inside on a nice day? I'm not a vampire, so I don't think a little sun will kill me, LOL. The only excuse I have is my constant need to be on the computer so that I can browse the web and play computer games all day. Things that I can do anytime, regardless of the weather. I always complain when the weather isn't warm, or when it snows or rains. So I should enjoy the days of lovely weather by getting outside and actually enjoying the weather, instead of looking at it from my window. 

For spring break, I had a nice idea of things that I could do outside to enjoy my time off school, had the weather been nice. But knowing the weather wasn't going to be nice I also had to come up things I could do inside. Now that the weather is starting to get nicer, I still find myself doing more stuff inside than outside. It doesn't have to be spring break, or even a weekend for the matter, to enjoy a nice day outside. Once you get your homework done, you can go for walk to the park, or you could even do your homework outside and get some fresh air! As long as the weather is nice, it's always a good time to spend some time outside. 

I myself know that getting on Twitter to check the latest trends and posting to tumblr can wait a little bit. You can always take your laptop outside, or bring your phone with you, and surely it wouldn't hurt to make a quick check or take a picture of the nice day, but honestly it would be better to keep technology use down to a minimum sometimes. It's nice to get away from the stresses that social media can sometimes bring for a bit. All of the things you enjoy about the internet will be there whenever, but the weather may not be here to stay. It could be 75 degrees and sunny one day, than 40 degrees and rainy the next. 

There are so many ways to enjoy a nice spring day without spending any money, or wandering too far from home. Go to a nearby park with some friends, bring some snacks, and just chat. Or even go by yourself and bring a book to read. Go to a spring sporting event and cheer on your team. This may have a small fee, but it shouldn't be too much, some schools may even let you into spring sporting events free. If you like to be active you could even gather some friends and play some backyard sports outside. You can even do your workout routine outside, and even add going for a walk or jog. If you have a dog you can walk the dog and play fetch. But even just sitting outside, relaxing, and doing nothing is certainly better than sitting indoors all day. No matter what you choose to do, you're still getting some fresh air and enjoying the weather. Get off the computer for a bit, grab a bottle of water (gotta stay hydrated), and go enjoy the day! :)

Super Quick Update: I Got A Tumblr!

This morning I woke up from an epic dream about my favorite band, Blood On The Dance Floor, that I really wanted to share with you guys. In fact there's many little things I'd love to blog and share with you, but I don't feel they would fit this blog.I like to put a lot of thought and effort into the posts I make here, and primarily post on things that I feel that other people could somehow benefit from in some way, with the occasional personal life post when something huge happens. I've been using my twitter to post some quick updates and statuses, and I have it open as a form of communication. But sometimes 140 characters just isn't enough! So this morning I decided to make a tumblr! :) 

I'll be posting random thoughts, pictures, stories, and just anything that comes to mind to my tumblr, almost daily! I am still in the process of figuring out how everything works and making my page look cute. Check out my tumblr and feel free to follow! Ugh... Those last few weeks

The school year has gone really fast for me up to this point. A semester and half of this semester have passed within a blink of an eye. But as we get into the last quarter of the year, it seems that time is starting to slow down. Summer, and for me graduation, is less than two months away. Each day it gets harder and harder to wake up and find any motivation. All I can think about is summer, and what comes next. Sure I still the moments when I think, I'm going to miss this place, but when when the alarm goes off or when a teacher makes me write (God forbid I have to use a pencil or write something that isn't a blog post! LOL) senioritis kicks in big time, and all I want is for summer to come. But we all know that you don't have to be a senior to feel the same way. No matter what grade you are in, this time of year it gets increasingly difficult to find any motivation to do anything school related. But slacking off in the last few weeks can have it's consequences later on. 

I don't any of the classes I'm taking this semester to graduate, and being a senior I have no exams to worry about. I could easily slack off this semester if I wanted to without any consequences from the school, but I want to keep my GPA up, and I don't want my last report card to have D's and F's. But while I can easily get away with not doing anything this semester, others may need the classes they are taking to graduate and they can't fail them, or they might have to take senior exams. And if you aren't a senior, more than likely you need all of your current classes to go towards graduation, and you will need to take exams at the end of the year. You'll need to keep working hard in your classes, especially if you haven't done well the last 3 quarters, so that you can pass the class and not have to retake it. Your grades in the last quarter can also determine whether you're eligible to play sports in the fall. And staying out of trouble with your parents because of your grades is also a plus, no one wants to spend the summer grounded because they got a D or F on their report card.

Stick to the routines you've had for the rest of the year, and keep up the study habits you've had from the start. Offer yourself small rewards for staying on task. For example, for every week where you turn in all of your work on time, buy yourself an extra treat in the cafeteria on Friday. Or if you get an A (or a B depending on how hard that class is for you), on all of your tests that week you can treat yourself to dinner at Chipotle, or any place you like. You could even give yourself a small reward such as a glass of chocolate milk for getting your homework done every night. Don't go too overboard on the rewards, save the bigger things for the end of the year. Perhaps earning an A or B during the last quarter could be rewarded with a shopping spree, or even just buying that one thing you've had your eye on for a while. 

As the weather gets nicer, I know that nobody wants to stay inside and do homework all day. You should still try to get your homework done right after school so you don't have to do it later at night, but you can still spend time outside. I like to have some time to relax a bit before I do my homework, so this would be a great time period to spend outside getting some fresh air. You could also take some short breaks from your homework to have a glass of water and sit outside for a bit. You could even try doing your homework outside as long as it won't become a distraction. Just don't let the wind take your homework away, LOL, keep a heavy book over loose papers. Take your time to get the answers right, and study the material. But remember, the faster you get done, the more time you'll have to enjoy the nice weather. 

Staying on top of your studies this time of year can seem like a total drag, but offering yourself tiny rewards can help out a bit. Try also to enjoy the fun parts of school, such as seeing all of your friends and your favorite lunches. Take advantage of special events planned by the school such as dances, game nights, and spring sporting events. For those of you who are upper-classman, prom is right around the corner. Enjoy the time you have left in school, especially if you are a senior. You'll never get these times back once you graduate. But even if you are only a freshman, or even in middle school, enjoy these years. They fly by much faster than you think. High school is only 4 years of your life, you'll have the rest of your life to go on with your future plans. Once these years are gone, they're gone. So stay positive, stay on top of things, make good choices, and enjoy yourself. You only get this experience once in your life, so make the most of it, and as they say, YOLO!

Product Review: Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Glitter Mascara

Ever since I got into make-up back in middle school, I've always wished that my mascara had a little bit of glitter in it. I've always thought it would be so pretty to have some sparkle to my lashes, but I never thought I'd find a mascara that had sparkle to it. But one day when I was walking through the make-up section of Walmart, I saw the Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Glitter Mascaras, and I knew I had to try them! There were so many colors; pink, blue, silver, black, and so many more pretty colors. I currently only have silver and black, as these are the most universal colors, but I plan to get more colors soon. 

I'm going to be honest, the first couple times I applied this glitter mascara, I didn't like it very much. It felt really sticky, and the silver one seemed to clump up on my lashes. I didn't completely hate the way it looked, I loved the fact that i had on glitter mascara, and it didn't look too terrible. It was mostly the way it felt on my lashes, especially right after putting it on. My lashes felt like they were sticking every time I blinked. But then it occurred to me, perhaps it was the way I was putting it on, and it was. I was putting it on over my regular mascara, the same way I put on regular mascara. Working from the base of my eyelashes and working to the ends. I was applying too much of it, this product isn't meant to be brought from the base of the lash to the ends. I found that when i started closer to the middles or ends of my lashes and only applied one light swipe to the ends of my lashes, it didn't feel sticky and looked much nicer. I absolutely loved the little bit of sparkle it gives my lashes when applied correctly. 

I've always thought glitter was so much fun to use in make-up, and it's amazing to have glitter product to use on my lashes. I can't wait to get some more fun colors and make my colorful looks even more colorful! If you aren't very into using colorful or bold looks, or think that having silver or pink glitter on your eyelashes would be to much, I recommend getting the black glitter, since it will blend with your lashes and won't pop out as much. The black just adds a subtle amount of sparkle to give your lashes an extra pop, so if you only plan on picking up one color, I would highly recommend black (aka Spellbound). 

These mascaras cost about $6.00 each, which might sound like much to some, but when you think of the price of other drugstore mascaras being over $7.00 sometimes, I feel that it's worth it. I use my glitter mascaras often because they match my personality and personal style very well. I know many people wouldn't typically use a glitter mascara in their everyday make-up, but it would be great for prom, homecoming, and other special events. If you are into this kind of thing like I am, it would be worth it to pick up a few different colors. If not, I would still recommend just getting the black to start with for when you want to add a little pop to your look. :)

Yummy Treats: Nutella Lava Brownies (In A Mug)

I'm not really one to use the stove very often, as I'm somewhat afraid I'll burn the house down, LOL. Cooking with the stove also just seems to take forever. I prefer to use the microwave because it's quicker, and a little safer for me, haha! I've always known the microwave could heat up a frozen dinner, or warm up other foods, but I never knew that there were actual recipes for the microwave. Until my cooking class had us find and prepare a microwave recipe that we found online. OMG! Recipes that only require the microwave?! No cooking?!? YES! My group decided to make these absolutely yummy Nutella brownies. They turned out absolutely amazing, and I just loved the Nutella filling!

Nutella Lava Brownies

What You Will Need:

-4 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips

-2 tablespoons butter

-1 egg

-4 tablespoons sugar

-2 tablespoons flour

-3 tablespoons Nutella

*This recipe makes two mugs. One for you and one for a friend!

Directions:

1. Get two microwave safe mugs. Put 1 tablespoon of butter and 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips in each mug. Microwave each mug separately for 40 seconds each. Remove and stir with a fork until chocolate is completely melted.

2. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to each mug and stir. Beat egg in a small bowl and ass half two each mug and stir. Add 1 tablespoon of flour to each mug and mix until smooth. 

3. Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of Nutella to each mug, and try to center it. Allow it to sink on its own, do not mix.

4. Microwave each mug separately for 1 minute each. Serve while warm.

Don't Let This Happen To You...

Every 15 Minutes... Someone dies or is seriously injured in an alcohol related crash. That's 4 people an hour, 96 people a day, and 35040 a year, 35040 to many. Car accidents are the leading cause of death among teens. The worst part is that this is all preventable, and happens all because of someone making one stupid decision, to drive under the influence or drugs or alcohol, or to drive while distracted. All it would have took to prevent all it, was the decision to not drive drunk, or not to pick up the cellphone while driving. 

You may think you are okay to drive after just a couple drinks, or that you are paying enough attention to the road because you look up every few characters from your text message. Most likely, you are more messed up than you think, and are way over the legal limit without even knowing it. And it takes one second for a car traveling at just 30 mph to travel 44 feet, and you never know what might come up in that 44 foot distance. You might reach at intersection and not see another car coming, someone might try to cross the street, or another car might stop. One second everyone seems to be having a good time, and in less than the time it takes to blink, lives are be changed forever.

Is getting home after a party so your parents don't find out, or one text message worth someone's life, and your own life? We all have dreams of some kind, and I know for a fact that none of your dreams are to die at such a young age, spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair, or to spend it in prison. Everyone involved will be affected by that one bad decision everyday. Families and friends will have to live without their loved ones. Those surviving through the crash will have to live with the memory for the rest of their lives, and live with new everyday challenges, even if they weren't severely injured. And as for the person who made the decision to drive drunk or text and drive.... they could spend anywhere from 15 years to life in prison, depending on what the court decides. Even if they are on the lower end with their sentencing, they will need to live with what they've done to their victims for the rest of their lives. 

This video shows what happens when someone makes one bad decision to drive while under the influence. The same thing can happen if someone drives while texting. And they will find out if you'd been texting while driving if you are involved in an accident. Phone records can easily be obtained for your cellphone provider when needed. This is truly a sad video to watch, and while this video is only a reenactment, this happens everyday in real life. Warning: While this is a fake video, it depicts real life situations. Many will find this video to be disturbing. This video is very graphic, so if you are extremely squeamish I wouldn't recommend watching this video. Viewer discretion is advised.

Don't let this happen to you... Just don't drive while under the influence of alcohol, even if you think you are okay to drive, and don't text and drive. That text message or phone call can wait until you get where you're going. And while it's not the best choice to start with to go to a party, or anywhere else, and get drunk to start with, nobody is perfect, everyone wants to have a good time once in awhile. But please, if you do choose to drink don't drive anywhere, and don't get into the car with someone who's been drinking. Don't even let them drive drunk. Stay at the person's house if you can (you'll still need to explain it to your parents, but what they'll do is better than the consequences of this...), or call a friend or even a parent to come pick you up if you get into that situation.

Of course your parents will be mad that you went to a party and drank, and you more than likely will get in big trouble at home. You might lose your phone, computer, and your car. You might not be allowed to go anywhere for a really long time, and you're parents will be disappointed, but while they might not show it right away, they'd be happy you told them instead of trying to take matters into your own hands and drive home yourself, or with someone else who'd been drinking. And surely losing your computer for a while is much better than spending time in jail, or getting killed in a car wreck. Your parents' disappointment will fade over time, they'll be able to see you graduate, go to college, get married, and follow your dreams. Any parent would rather have their kids tell them they went against their rules rather than having than to go through this.

We all make mistakes, and bad choices. But a bad choice should never lead to tragedy. Simply choosing to call your parents, or another friend, or not even going to the party to start with can prevent this all from happening. Ignore that text message while you're driving, they'll understand. It's not worth the consequences. Even if you've done this before, if you're reading this, it's not too late to stop, and start making better choices. You never know when that split second will come when something goes terribly wrong. Keep yourself, your friends, and everyone else safe. Make good choices, and always pay full attention to what's going on on the road. Stay safe out there... Don't let a preventable tragedy ruin your dreams.

Prom Series: Hair and Make-Up: Professionally Done or DIY?

Prom is approaching fast! It's a little over 3 weeks away for me. Over the past couple months I've made a few posts on my Prom dos and don'ts, dress shopping, and looking for accessories. As prom approaches it's time to start thinking of the last major details, hair and make-up! There are endless possibilities on how you can style your hair and make-up, and it can be hard to choose what to do. Do you want to do an updo or leave your hair down? Or maybe have your hair half-up half down? Do you want go with neutral make-up, or bright colorful make-up? Then there's the option to get it done professionally or to do it yourself. So many things to think about! 

The first decision is to decide whether you're going to get your hair and make-up done professionally or do it on your own. Choosing to have it done professionally almost ensures that it'll be done perfectly, and takes the stress off of trying to do it yourself, but it can be costly. If you don't want to spend the money, you can always do it yourself and still get a very nice look. However, if you do choose to do your own hair and make-up like I am, you'll need to know what you're doing sooner so you have more time to practice. The worst thing you can do is wait until prom night to try doing your hairstyle, just to find its more difficult than you thought it would be. I would at least practice the look at least two times, or until you get confident with it. You can also opt to get together with your friends and do each others hair, but you'll want to practice on each other as well. Remember, you want your friends to look just as great as you do! Never try doing a hairstyle for the first time when you need it to be perfect... or more importantly, don't try to figure out what to do hours before prom!

Get some kind of idea of what you want to do with your hair and make-up at least two weeks before the big day. Go ahead and google prom hair and make-up ideas and get some inspiration. Keep your hair type in mind when looking for a hairstyle. Some hairstyles may not work as well on shorter hair, and some might not work on longer hair, and some might work no matter the length of your hair. When you find something you like save the picture so you can refer back to it later, or print it off to show your stylist.  If you are doing your own hair and make-up for prom, you may want to use YouTube to find prom make-up looks and hairstyles so that you can get a how-to on the look. If you can, practice along with the video, then try it a few times on your own until you get confident with it. Never try to do a style for the first time on the big night! Two of my favorite YouTubers to look to for hairstyles are Lilith Moon and CuteGirlsHairStyles. Check them out, they have some amazing tutorials!

How you decide to go about your hair and make-up is completely up to you, and what you prefer. For make-up I personally would like to go for eyeshadow colors that match up with my dress, and a half updo. You may decide to go for a more natural or more colorful make-up look, and a full updo, or even leave your hair down and give it some nice curl. Whatever you decide on, pick something you love. It's all up to you. make it a look you'll be proud of!
